Pickerington North 3 Westerville South 1
The Panther Boys opened their season with a 3-1 home win vs
Westerville South on Thursday. After several shots looked
promising, the Panthers opened the scoring as Scott Hartley
fed Jared Haggit close-in, and his shot glanced off a defender
and into the net. The first half featured excellent ball movement
by the home side, as the Panthers played tough and got stuck
in on defense, disrupting the flow of the Wildcats offense.
Just after the start of the second half, North scored two
in succession. The first came just over a minute into the
period off a corner, the ball being sent home by Keegan Ross
for a 2-0 lead. About 90 seconds later Ross netted his second
goal, from Scott Hartley's second assist, as he threaded a
shot between three defenders and past the keeper for a 3-0
advantage. The Panthers are 1-0 on the young season. GOALS:
Jared Haggit, Keegan Ross 2. ASSISTS: Scott Hartley 2. SAVES:
Anthony Evans 2.

The Lady Panthers' home opener saw the home side cruise past
Groveport-Madison 8-0 Tuesday night in an OCC Ohio Division
matchup. The game was never in doubt as North netted 3 early
goals from 3 different scorers to put the game away. Shelby
Olszewski tallied just 1:06 into the match as she launched
a 30-yard shot into the right side of the goal, and Skeeter
Holland followed four minutes later with a pop-up shot that
lifted over the keeper from about 10 yards, and settled into
the net to double the advantage. Just over two minutes further
in, Becca Russell's shot was parried away, but fell to a charging
Becca Glenn, who tallied for the home side from short range.
Holland assisted on Olszewski's second goal of the night in
the 26th minute, as she sent in a cross that was headed in
for goal number four. Olszewski tallied her hat trick in the
47th minute, again on a Holland assist, a nicely-directed
layoff for Shelby that was put through on the left side. Just
over seven minutes from time, Chelsea Smith centered a long
cross that was put in on a half-volley by Sara Kageorge. Courtney
Potts drove between two defenders and slotted home the Lady
Panthers' seventh goal in the 76th minute, and Shelby Lozan
rounded out the night's scoring with under two minutes to
play, breaking between defenders to collect a loose ball and
shoot home for the eighth goal on the night. The Lady Panthers
improve to 2-1, and move to 1-0 in the OCC Ohio Division.
GOALS: Shelby Olszewski 3, Skeeter Holland, Becca Glenn, Sara
Kageorge, Courtney Potts, Shelby Lozan. ASSISTS: Holland 2,
Chelsea Smith. SAVES: Allyson Baldwin, Caitlin Hughes, Lauren
Eberts each with no saves.
